Valrey Associates was set up by Angela Vallois to meet a need in the market place for inexpensive tailored accounts package training. There are many companies offering training in Sage, but Angela felt there was a need to make the training more relevant to the needs of the client.

She takes the stance that it is more valuable to concentrate on the client’s needs and deliver training that matches the need rather than produce an off-the-shelf solution and hope trainees can pick out the bits that they need.

Angela herself has a wealth of knowledge acquired over twenty years working in an accounting environment, so she sees life from the client’s perspective. Having started as an accounts clerk, she studied for her accounts qualifications and worked as a management accountant for ten years prior to setting up Valrey Associates.

Most of her experience has been gained within the small and medium business sector. She knows this well and is therefore able to serve this sector well.

Of course, a knowledge of computing is as important as knowledge of accounting. Angela gained her qualifications in the major Sage software packages working in the computer industry as a consultant for a Sage Reseller.

"Valrey's attitude focuses beyond the simple manipulation of a computer accounts program. It is a means to an end, not an end in itself", she says.

"We use the training opportunity to develop sound accounting processes. This means the time saved can be allocated in a more productive way to dealing with issues such as cash flow and business planning."

Whilst Sage programs are generally regarded as the de facto standard for small to medium businesses, Valrey is aware that many new businesses find it easier to use Intuit Quickbooks to manage their accounts. Valrey pays as much attention to Quickbooks as they do Sage, because they firmly believe that employing efficient accounting processes at this stage will not only bring immediate benefits which will reduce time spent on this necessary part of a business, but will also provide a firm foundation to ease any possible transition to other packages in the future.
